Wynter Blood Book Review

2nd May 2022

Power will bring them together.

Will destiny tear them apart?

After a failed attempt to end her life, Alia Carter leaves her childhood home to become a waitress in the state's most prominent hotel. Traumatized after her mother’s death, she silently grapples with her pain until she saves the life of a mysterious man who reveals to her a world of true magic, and terrifying wonder.

Eric Wynter is a vampire Ward sworn to protect the creatures of the city. After centuries of heartache and loneliness, he is finally ready to end his existence.

When fate brings them together, Alia is irresistibly drawn into Eric’s world, where witches and vampires are more than childish bedtime stories. Together, they discover she too has an incredible power running through her veins. A power so rare, every creature in the city will kill to get their share of it...

Will Alia allow Eric into her life, and into her heart?

Will Eric be able to defy destiny and keep those he loves safe?

The Eos Key is a dark and magical story that will keep you spellbound long after the last page.

"If there is the slightest chance she could come to terms with it all, if there is a modicum of a chance she will come back to you in this lifetime, would it be the worth the wait" "I would wait a thousand lifetimes for that"

TW- Attempted Suicide/Abuse/Stalking/Death

This book was the vampire book I never knew I needed. I adored this!

'Wynter Blood' has all the elements of supernatural horror, romance and a substantial mix of intense battles and childhood traumas and their consequences. I found the book to have perfect pacing throughout, nothing was too rushed or a slow burn.

The narrative was so easy to follow, with multiple POVS, and don't get me started on the characters?!

I THINK I FELL IN LOVE. The characters always serve as the driving force in any story, and DM Lewry achieved this mastery perfectly. Each character had their own beliefs surrounding love, family, their morals and loyalty, which in turn made the novel that addictive, I couldn't put it down.

It's vital to bestow both strengths and weaknesses when birthing characters, and the author managed to convey this perfectly. I followed the internal conflict for Alia to search for her stability and confidence, and even more so her external fight for love and justice.

"Be wary of the dark ones that walk in the light, for they are the ones that will steal your heart."

The author fulfilled all the reader's needs with this book, the elements of forbidden love, and interracial romance. Absolute five star read for me, and I honestly can't wait for book two. The world building was incredible, and for her debut novel, I am seriously impressed.
